Bruno arrived at MARL on September 16th with a terribly broken spirit. It was apparent from the minute he walked through our door that his fear of people ran deep. It took almost an hour to coax him out of the lobby that day.

Bruno slowly came out of his shell at his own pace. First, he walked from his crate to the yard on his own. Next, he took a treat from the hand of a volunteer. While these were small steps, they gave our staff hope.

As time passed, Bruno continued to gain confidence and was finally learning how to enjoy being a dog. Bruno absolutely loved to spend time with other dogs at the shelter! They would run around together, play and seek out attention from staff and volunteers.

While Bruno was improving, we knew that he would need a special owner who would be willing to let Bruno continue to come out of his shell at his own pace. On January 14th, Bruno found an awesome foster family who was willing to do just that!

To our surprise, Bruno adjusted to life in his new home very quickly! His new family reports that he is curious, loves to explore and snuggle on the couch. If everything goes well, Bruno’s foster family plans to adopt him.

Bruno’s story proves that quality of the wait and little extra TLC can truly make a difference in the future of an animal!

Way to go, Bruno!
