Fosters help MARL provide the best care possible for our cats and dogs until they are ready to be returned to the shelter or adopted. Fostering can last from a few days to several months depending on the needs of each individual animal. Ferguson and Miracle are perfect examples of how fosters can make an immediate and lasting impact on the life of an animal in need.

Ferguson

When Ferguson came to MARL on March 22nd, he was in very rough shape. His fur was so terribly matted that it was difficult to even recognize him as a dog.

After a trip to the beauty parlor, Ferguson looked (and felt) like a new man!

To help Ferguson continue to build his confidence, we felt that it would be best for him to spend some time in a foster home.

We learned that Ferguson loved to go for walks, meet new people, and sunbathe in the yard.

Ferguson was also a great coworker! He was always eager to help his foster mom catch up on her work.

Ferguson’s time in a foster home allowed us to learn more about his personality and help match him with potential adopters. Exactly one month after arriving at MARL, Ferguson’s dream of finding a forever home came true.

Ferguson | Adopted April 22nd, 2017 – Special thanks to Ann Wiacek, Ferguson’s foster.

Miracle

Miracle came to MARL as a stray on March 10th, 2017. Although she was in good physical shape, Miracle was very untrusting of people. She was extremely nervous and shy.

Because Miracle was so scared at the shelter, one of our dedicated staff members decided to take her home for a sleepover.

Miracle was a completely different dog in a home environment. She was relaxed, happy and couldn’t stop smiling!

Because of this, we felt it would be best if Miracle spent time in a foster home while waiting for her forever home. In foster, Miracle was coming out of her shell more and more each day. She even became good friends with Bunny, MARL’s former office dog!

After just one week in foster, Miracle caught the eye of family who fell in love with her story.

Spending time in a foster home helped Miracle become much more trusting of new people. When Miracle met her new family for the first time, we knew it was the perfect match.

Miracle | Adopted April 22nd, 2017  – Special thanks to Kim Hurley & Robin Wright,
Miracle’s foster parents.

MARL is always looking for loving, reliable foster homes to add to our list!
