PONTIAC, MI – A Michigan animal shelter is offering the opportunity to add some cuteness to your next video chat, conference call or virtual meeting.

There may be an occasional “woof” or “meow” during the proceedings, though. The Michigan Animal Rescue League will allow you to select a dog, cat or kitten to join your video call for a donation of $50 for 15 minutes or $100 for 30 minutes.

“Animals bring joy into people’s lives and we wanted to bring a little bit of that joy into all of the video calls that are happening right now,” Audrey Blaylock, MARL communications manager told WXYZ in Detroit.

Video calls, both for recreation and business, have become an essential part of everyday life as people stay at home during the coronavirus pandemic.

A member of MARL’s team will introduce the animal at the beginning of the call and while they are working with them on proper etiquette, Blaylock told the TV station they can be unpredictable.

“We can guarantee that they will be an adorable addition to your call,” she said.

Animal appearances began on April 16 and can be booked online. There were a “few spots” remaining as of Tuesday, according to the shelter.

Proceeds will directly benefit the dogs and cats who arrive at MARL, which has continued to accept animals during the pandemic.
